80,000 Mile Review of the Mazda6

Well, it's that time again.... time to write up my 80,000 mile review of my 2004 Mazda 6 sedan.

I had it in for a major service at around 70,000, where the dealer performed over $1,000 worth of work, including new brakes on the front (pretty typical for a front-wheel drive car), the major 60,000 [...]

60,000 Miles Review of the Mazda6

Well, I'm about to hit 60,000 on my Mazda 6 4-door sedan, and I'm happy to say that I've continued to have zero issues with this car. It has performed flawlessly, mechanically, and I am rarely happier than when I'm behind the wheel and on an Interstate revving it up. It handles high speeds with [...]

Mazdaspeed 6

You know, I haven't written a significant amount about the Mazdaspeed 6 because, frankly, I was disappointed with what Mazda gave us in this car.

It's a car that has an MSRP of upwards of $26,000 (with the optioned-out Mazdaspeed6 going for an astounding $29,000!). But c'mon, no leather on the "base model?" It's still a [...]

An update to 2006 Mazda 6 Pricing

So while I haven't gotten official confirmation on this yet, here's what was recently posted to the Mazda6Club forums:

S-plan pricing (similar to dealer invoice) is as follows:

'06 Mazdaspeed6 Sport - $26,685
'06 Mazdaspeed6 Grand Touring with Roof - $28,988
(Roof is $700 - not sure what this means)

The Mazdaspeed6 does not qualify for the 'stair-step' $500 incentive.

All [...]

2006 Mazda 6 Pricing

Hi kids... A number of you have been inquiring about Mazda 6 pricing. The fact is, Mazda hasn't released their partner pricing yet (at least not to the point where I can get it). Sorry! If you're a Mazda dealer and might be interested in some positive promotion for your dealership, drop me an email [...]

46,000 Miles and Time to Change the Tires

Well, I was expecting a longer tread-life of the factory-installed all season tires that came with my Mazda 6. Unfortunately, that was not to be. I noticed sliding a bit more in the slick rain, or in light snow (I'm in the Northeast, so snow is a part of living up here). Yes, I know [...]

Mazdaspeed 6 Update

A dealer wrote me a few weeks ago after he had just received his dealer training for the Mazdaspeed 6.

We got to basically beat the crap out of the speed and a few other cars in its class and the speed blew away the competition.... Lots of new technology, including the new turbo (DISI) [...]

Customer Satisfaction with the Mazda 6

Seriously, I don't know how anybody can drive this car for a year and a half, as I have, and not be nearly 100% satisfied with it. It's like driving a BMW 3 series at half the cost. And twice the reliability (yes, sorry to point out that BMWs and Audi's are notoriously unreliable, even [...]

2006 Pricing Update

Sorry folks, no S-Plan pricing yet on the Mazda6. If you're a dealer who has this pricing available (or any 2006 invoice pricing), please send me a PDF or fax it to me (email me for the fax number) and I'll post it here...

38,000 Mile Check In for my Mazda 6

Well, the 30,000 mile checkup of my Mazda 6s (at 36,000 miles, oops!) went smoothly. I got a free rental car and they found nothing wrong with the car that needed fixing. Well, actually, there was the one thing... The passenger-side brake shoe warning piece of metal had come loose and that's what was causing [...]
