Climate Control System Comments

I recently received this email and thought you should know… Personally I’ve also noticed that the climate control system is fairly loud (I think it’s a design trade-off with the size of the vents versus their functionality in moving air flow through them). I don’t have a whistling, but it doesn’t surprise me to find out others do. BTW, I’m coming up on 17,000 miles this week and will be posting a new review update soon!

We recently purchased a 2004 Mazda 6 and thought this information would be of use. The car is fabulous just as you say. We are very disappointed with one thing though. The AC/Heater blower makes a high pitched noise when on high and various lower speeds. Granted, this is nothing major but is very annoying. We have been informed by the dealer that Mazda has a fix and knows of this problem. Roughly $500.00 was spent by Mazda under warranty and for three days they had our car. The bad thing is, it still does it. I know most people would think we are being picky but my wife loves the quite drive on her way to work but this ear piercing sound is so irritating. We have sat in several cars on the lot and they all do it. The dealer doesn’t seem to be able to fix it. Our next step is to ask for a factory representative to meet us at the dealer to resolve this. Just thought you would like to know. Pete

This site is to detail the journey of my purchase of the upcoming 2004 Mazda 6 5-door (or Mazda6 5-door, depending upon how you write it!) sport sedan. The 5-door is also referred to as the Mazda 6 Hatchback (although Mazda doesn't call it this). There is nothing else quite like this on the road, ever since Saab stopped selling the 5-door versions of their sedans and switched over to purely 4-door cars (in 2003). Bummer, because folks like me need the versatility of a 5-door (otherwise known as a hatchback) without making it look like a VW Golf (ew!).
