Spoiler on 5-door or no?

I got this in my email today, and I thought I’d share it with you because it shows how much farther Mazda dealers have to go…

I just test drove a Mazda 6 5-door V6 and everything was good except the rear spoiler was STANDARD!! I think they could have made the sedan into a 5-door and it would have been a better car — more headroom in the back, more visibility through the back windshield and still the same cargo space ! The dealer suggested I get a body shop to remove the spoiler and fill in the holes !!

Now, one can argue whether it’s a good thing or not that spoiler should be standard (surely it would be nice to have it as an option, but they’re trying to save costs). I agree about rear headroom in the 5-door, one of the main drawbacks to that version.

This site is to detail the journey of my purchase of the upcoming 2004 Mazda 6 5-door (or Mazda6 5-door, depending upon how you write it!) sport sedan. The 5-door is also referred to as the Mazda 6 Hatchback (although Mazda doesn't call it this). There is nothing else quite like this on the road, ever since Saab stopped selling the 5-door versions of their sedans and switched over to purely 4-door cars (in 2003). Bummer, because folks like me need the versatility of a 5-door (otherwise known as a hatchback) without making it look like a VW Golf (ew!).
