Posted my 7,000 Mile Review

Hi folks, I’ve posted my 7,000 mile/3 month review over a the Mazda6Club.com forums, go take a look at it (it’s in Consumer Reviews). This is a very stable, reliable car and I’d highly recommend it to anyone in any trim level. However, after reading some of the problems with the first year hatchback model online, I think I’d stay away from the 5-door for now until they’ve worked out all the squeak and rattle issues that have arisen. Looking back now, I’m go so greatful I didn’t spend the extra $3k more for a more squeaky car!!

As always, your mileage may vary. But for the price, you can’t beat looking into purchasing the Mazda 6. The center console, something I was a little leary about initially (or indifferent, depending on how you look at it) has grown on me. It’s not as usable as it could be, but it’s not bad.

It’s funny, coming from a decade old car, I thought my new 2004 car would offer so many new/more features. It really doesn’t. It offers pretty much the same thing, except with increased safety, a larger engine with more torque (though not at the low end), and new styling. While the dash controls and stalks are all very quality, the controls and stalks in my decade old car were even better and smoother in operation. It does make you wonder — something newer doesn’t always mean better.

This site is to detail the journey of my purchase of the upcoming 2004 Mazda 6 5-door (or Mazda6 5-door, depending upon how you write it!) sport sedan. The 5-door is also referred to as the Mazda 6 Hatchback (although Mazda doesn't call it this). There is nothing else quite like this on the road, ever since Saab stopped selling the 5-door versions of their sedans and switched over to purely 4-door cars (in 2003). Bummer, because folks like me need the versatility of a 5-door (otherwise known as a hatchback) without making it look like a VW Golf (ew!).
