Got My Invoice From the Dealer for My Mazda 6

BTW, invoice pricing on the Mazda6 5-door with a manual tranny in the U.S. is $21,111.00. The MSRP is $22,895. The option prices are all the same as the current sedan in terms of their invoice and MSRP pricing.

Whooo-hoooo! The dealer called today to fax over my invoice. Yay. Got it a few minutes later… So the good news is that my car is done and will hopefully be on a truck to the dealer’s sometime this week.

The bad news is about the pricing. Although the pricing came in right along my estimates, there was a $200 “Hartford Assessment fee” on there (Huh?) and I found out a Mazda fan in Kansas called around to local dealers and found one who offered him invoice pricing on a 5-door. So I went back to my dealer and asked him to stick to the $500 over invoice (there was this new fee plus another fee he had added) we had agreed upon. No word yet back from him. He’s still making a nice profit on the car, so I hope it’s not a deal breaker.

This site is to detail the journey of my purchase of the upcoming 2004 Mazda 6 5-door (or Mazda6 5-door, depending upon how you write it!) sport sedan. The 5-door is also referred to as the Mazda 6 Hatchback (although Mazda doesn't call it this). There is nothing else quite like this on the road, ever since Saab stopped selling the 5-door versions of their sedans and switched over to purely 4-door cars (in 2003). Bummer, because folks like me need the versatility of a 5-door (otherwise known as a hatchback) without making it look like a VW Golf (ew!).
