Week of My Car’s Scheduled Production
Well, according to the dealer’s database, this is the week that my car is scheduled for production! Yay!!! I’m excited knowing that they’re making it this week, but still disappointed that 2-3 weeks before I’m scheduled to take delivery of my car, Mazda North America has still not set final MSRP pricing on the 5-door or wagon version of the Mazda6. Unbelievable. There are a lot of folks who write me and who I see writing in the various online forums that fault Mazda North America for many of their screwups (from tepid NA marketing efforts, to the lack of details on their Web site about financing and rebate offers, to the lack of updates in general from them). Chalk yet another one up to the corporate offices who can’t seem to stay on the ball.
Some dealers have noted that this is not at all out of character for Mazda NA… That they always come out with pricing at the very last minute. The obvious outsider question is, “Why?” I mean, I work for a small company that sells a high-priced consumer transportation device. We know our pricing like the back of our hands. I’m not certain why pricing a new model of a vehicle is really so difficult (especially when the model is established in every other market, and draft pricing was released to dealer 3 months ago).
So no, sorry, no updates on pricing at this time. Nothing new, I suppose…
Well, this message says that they made 221 Mazda6 5-doors at the plant this past week. Whoo-hooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
