You need to vote this year.
I've never felt this strongly about a presidential election before.
I've read numerous books over the past year on President Bush, and even Kerry's own works, to get a sense of each of the candidates. I'm registered as an independent voter.
I've read dozens of articles about each candidate, both online and in numerous newspapers. I've read the spin from
both sides and looked at the records of both candidates.
What I'm amazed most by the 2004 election how it has, to date, been more
about issues that have little relevance to most of us. I could care less
what either candidate has done in their past. What I care about is what
they've done in their political careers.
Voting in the 2004 Election
I ask myself one simple question this presidential election. Am I better
off than I was 4 years ago? The answer is a clear, resounding "No." I feel
as though my country is failing in its duty to uphold the freedoms and
rights of not only its own citizens, but stand as a symbol of hope and
freedom for the rest of the world. I want a strong economy, and instead
we have a lukewarm economy (not clearly moving in any one direction) and
a Federal deficit that has ballooned out of control on Bush's watch.
These are not legacies I feel comfortable giving my nephews and niece.
My Vote Counts
I'm voting for Kerry this year, because he has the record, the experience,
and the character to help us out of this mess Bush has gotten us in to.
Still undecided (as I was up until the first debate)? Maybe you want
to read
Bush's Top Ten Flip-Flops
which shows that even a "strong" leader can change his mind.
